  • Is there a difference between the brand name and the generic?

    There is no difference between the two. Both contain 37.5mg of the medication.
  • How long can I stay on the medication?

    You can remain on the medication as long as necessary if you are continuing to lose weight toward your final goal weight.
  • Are there any side effects with this medication?

    The two primary side effects are dry mouth and constipation, both of which are easily prevented by drinking plenty of water. Very rarely some people have trouble sleeping for the first few days, since this medication is a nervous system stimulant, but that effect wears off quickly.
  • Is this medication safe?

    It has been on the market for 50 years, has been prescribed for millions of patients, and has an extremely safe track record. It is not addictive. This medication by itself has never been associated with heart valve problems or with pulmonary hypertension.
  • Can I take This medication with the other medications I am taking?

    For most medications, there is no adverse interaction with this medication. However, at your first visit one of our doctors will review all your medications with you to ensure that there are no adverse interactions. Therefore, when you present for your initial visit, it is very important to list all the medication you are taking including the dose of each.
  • How much weight can I expect to lose in 2 months?

    That depends on your starting weight and total body fat. However, most patients lose between 6-15 lbs in two months.
  • Should I do cardio or weights?

    Cardio exercise is recommended for losing weight, whereas weight training is recommended for muscle toning and building strength, typically after you have lost your desired amount of weight and then in combination with cardio.
