slim & trim

Our Staff

Thomas R. Poskitt, M.D.

My decision to join the staff of Slim & Trim in September 2008 was based on several factors. First, having known the owners, Pat and Johnda, for many years, I already knew that the clinic provided a level of expertise not found in the majority of weight loss clinics. Slim & Trim uses bioelectric impedance analysis to measure total body fat, muscle, and water at each visit rather than relying solely on the body mass index (BMI) as most weight loss clinics do. Secondly, the clinic staff combines professionalism and respect with warmth and friendliness, making Slim & Trim not only an enjoyable clinic to visit but also fun place to work for all of the staff. And thirdly, as a practicing internist and oncologist for 30 years, I had come to realize the extent to which obesity negatively impacted the health of my patients, but discovered that the majority of primary care physicians in the tri-state region failed to recognize and treat obesity as a chronic, life-long condition. Joining Slim & Trim afforded me the opportunity to help rectify that situation in a clinic environment that practices state of the art weight loss management.

Mark Adkins, ARNP

After spending many years treating illnesses in cardiology (where obesity was a significant risk factor), I decided to focus my career on the epidemic of obesity.  I wanted to help patients lose weight, modify their lifestyle and promote health and fitness.  During my search for education and like-minded clinicians, I found Slim and Trim, Inc.  The level of care given by Dr. Poskitt and the staff was focused on a healthy way of weight loss.  Care for the patient and concern for healthy weight loss was noticeable in every member of the Slim and Trim family including the owners and all the staff.   After a few visits and discussions, I knew I wanted to be part of this amazing team.  I joined Slim and Trim in January 2015.

    Andrew G Bustin, MD

I have been a Cardiologist for approximately 35 years and have always emphasized the preventative aspects of medicine.  Obesity is now the leading health hazard in the U.S. having surpassed smoking.  Obesity contributes to diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and joint disease, not to mention quality of life as well as lowered self-esteem.
At Slim and Trim, Inc. we have a state of the art clinic and staff who emphasize the most important aspects of weight management.  We do not merely track body weight, but more significantly measure body fat, fat loss, and muscle mass.  Ultimately this translates to a healthier you!
If you are looking for a clinic that bases treatments on sound medical principles, this is the place.

Gerald B. Reams, M.D.

I am proud to have been with Pat and Johnda at Slim and Trim since the beginning. When I was approached about being the physician for Slim and Trim, what first impressed me was their obvious dedications to helping patients lose weight in the healthiest manner possible to keep the weight off and re-style their lives, and to offer every patient the benefit of a physician’s care. I’m very happy to be able to say we at Slim and Trim have kept to those principles and have helped many, many people get healthier—not simply by losing weight, but by losing it effectively, and through knowledge and individual assessment, being able to manage their body composition for a lifetime.
